The Decibelles
choir founder

I’m Jackie Meikleham, and music has always been my first love. There’s something truly special about singing with other women. For me, nothing compares to that feeling of experiencing our voices blending together.

Over the years I’ve sung in different choirs, performed in an all-female cabaret group and – long before that – was singing a cappella with my sister from as early as I can remember. Singing has always been part of who I am.

Then, for a long time, life sort of got in the way. My stressful day job was so demanding that, little by little, I lost confidence in my own voice. I had stopped singing pretty much anywhere I might be overheard.  How did that happen?

In the last few years, I’ve rediscovered the joy of being in choirs. Finding my voice again alongside other women has been part of a profoundly positive shift in my life, and it’s made a real difference to my health and wellbeing.

I’ve fallen in love with singing all over again – and I would truly love to join you in voice!

THE BELLES

We are The Decibelles are a community of women who meet weekly in a lovely venue by the beach in Carnoustie. It’s a relaxed atmosphere – a space where everyone can shake off their stress and have fun. We love music and we love to explore the endless sounds we can make together.

All voices are welcome here – you don’t need to have singing experience or perfect pitch! We sing a varied repertoire: think ABBA, Motown, Pop, Country, Doo-Wop, Disco, Foot-Stompin Gospel and everything in between!

Social events: Opportunities to connect with fellow members for a Friday night dinner out or food and a blether by the beach.
